Reese came up with some fantastic ideas for our outdoor area, including the alfresco and timber deck, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything has turned out. His attention to detail, knowledge and willingness to work with us made the whole process such a positive experience.
The entire job was completed on time and within our budget, without any hidden costs & with great communication from start to finish. Reese was professional, reliable and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the result.
We are absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen and outdoor space and would have no hesitation in recommending Reese and Bayside Constructions to our family and friends.
Once again, thank you so much, Reese, for all your hard work — we truly appreciate it!
We recently had our bathroom renovated by Bayside Constructions, with Rhys as the builder, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.
From start to finish, Rhys was professional, reliable and easy to deal with. The workmanship was excellent, attention to detail was great, and the whole renovation was completed to a very high standard. He kept us informed throughout the process and made sure everything was done properly.
The finished bathroom looks fantastic and the quality of the work really shows.
Great workmanship, great communication and a great result. Highly recommended!

Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about decks, pergolas, verandas, carports and quoting.
Do I need a building permit for a deck, pergola or veranda?
Often yes — it depends on size, height, attachment to the house, and your council
We’ll flag permit needs early and can help with design docs for approval
Small freestanding shade structures sometimes sit under exemptions; we’ll confirm before you commit
How much does a new deck, pergola or veranda cost?
Most of our projects fall between $15,000 and $30,000, and larger or more complex builds go higher. Price depends on size, materials, site access and design. We give you a clear, itemised quote after a free on-site visit, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
How long does a typical outdoor project take?
Most builds take 1–2 weeks once permits are approved. We give you a timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout.
What’s the difference between a pergola and a veranda?
Pergola: open or partial shade structure — designed for air and light
Veranda: covered outdoor room — better all-weather use
Deck: the timber (or composite) platform under either — or a stand-alone living space
Timber or steel — which is better?
Timber reads warm and residential; great for decks and many pergolas
Steel suits clean architectural lines and long spans
Best choice follows your house style, span, and maintenance preference — we’ll recommend either or a mix
Will you handle the full job from design to finish?
Yes — design direction, structure, and finished outdoor living
We coordinate permits and trades where the project needs them
One clear plan, one build team, finished ready to use
What’s included in the free on-site quote?
We come to your property, measure up, talk through your ideas and budget, and give you design and material suggestions. There’s no cost and no obligation.
Do you build carports too?
Yes. We design and build custom carports to suit your home and street appeal, not flat-pack kits.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we’re fully licensed and insured, with 15 years’ experience in the building industry.
Do I need to be home while you build?
No. Once we’ve agreed on the plan and have access to the site, you can go about your day. We’ll keep you updated along the way.
What areas do you service?
We cover East and South East Melbourne, including the Peninsula and bayside suburbs. If you’re not sure whether you’re in our area, just ask.
